ORCHESTRA OF VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT (ORKIESTRA OCHOTNICZEJ STRAŻY POŻARNEJ W MSZCZONOWIE) is the oldest brass orchestra in Poland in accordance with the data supplied by the Polish Association of Choirs and Orchestras. The orchestra has been established by the count Kazimierz Krasińskiego – the owner of adjacent estates and exerted significant influence on the social and cultural life in the town since the very beginning. In course of Poland partition period the orchestra awaked the national consciousness of the citizens of Mszczonów. The orchestra membership was always a honour.
The orchestra established partnership contacts with the Polish Orchestra Societe de Musique „HARMONIA” in Bully Les Mines in France. Their first cassette has been recorded in 1996. The repertoire encompasses patriotic, religious, military and classical songs as well as folk, dancing and convivial music.
At the moment the orchestra encompasses 50 members under the direction of the scoutmaster Jacek Zielonka and managed by the scoutmaster Janusz Koziński. The oldest member of the ensemble is already mentioned scoutmaster Kazimierz Kalinowski who joined the orchestra more than 60 years ago. The music lessons for youth are carried out by the scoutmasters Jan Chałuś and Jacek Zielonka.
